EVENT
OVERVIEW:
Mr. Hiroki Yamakawa, the director of the National Tax
Agencyfs International Examinations section, will present a short history of
international taxation in Japan and describe the NTAfs current policy on
international tax issues, including a discussion of Tokumei Kumiai agreements,
Commissionaire arrangements, Agent PE issues, and financial activities. Mr.
Yamakawa will also address transfer pricing issues and related examination
policies, the new U.S.-Japan Income Tax Treaty—including the treaty
shopping provisions—and new issues, including partnership categorization
issues.
Mr. Yamakawa will make his presentation in English; a
Q&A session (with interpreter) will follow.@Mr. Yamakawafs comments during the Q&A session
will be off the record and will represent his personal views only.
