EVENT OVERVIEW:

The ACCJ's Peter Fuchs recently noted, "today's changes in Japan's political
and corporate governance were triggered the day they dug up the gold bars
under [former LDP VP] Kanemaru's floorboards and led him away in handcuffs."
Japan's Prosecutor General, Akio Harada, is the highest-ranking career
official in the Justice Ministry and the man who ran the US judicial
assistance resulting in the indictment of former PM Kakuei Tanaka. Harada
is the one who must decide whether a high-profile case can endure not only
court scrutiny, but also public and political pressures. He is one "general"
who doesn't flinch when the bullets fly.

Harada speaks excellent English and will answer your questions about Japan's
new legal system, such as proposed legal reforms including lay and lawyer
judges, the Asahara terror case, and whether the MOJ needs an "Antitrust
Division" to handle economic crimes.
