EBC Executive Director, Alison Murray, was decorated with the Chevalier de l’Ordre National du Mérite (Knight of the National Order of Merit) by the President of the Republic of France in recognition of her work in the field of EU-Japan relations. The medal was presented by H.E. Ambassador Bernard De Montferrand of the Embassy of France in Japan.  In her acceptance speech, Ms. Murray said, “I believe the award more precisely recognizes the role of the European Business Council (EBC) in Japan, rather than my own efforts and I am delighted that such a significant member state of the EU and stakeholder of the EBC has given public recognition to the EBC through this decoration.” The Order of Merit is the second-highest civilian award accorded by France.
