The European Business Council (EBC) is supported by a Secretariat headed by the EBC Executive Director. The EBC Secretariat coordinates the EBC activities and acts as a resource for the EBC Committees. This includes:
- Providing logistical support for the EBC membership such a meeting facilities and collecting/disseminating information related to the EBC's work
- Acting as the first point of contact for other business organisations, the mass media, and government
- Coordinating the EBC's public policy programme in cooperation with EBC stakeholders and relevant committees
- Liaising with European government representatives, including the European Commission through the Delegation of the European Commission in Japan
- Producing EBC reports and policy proposals
- Coordinating EBC submissions to forums such as the EU-Japan Business Dialogue Roundtable, the EU-Japan Summit, and the EU-Japan bilateral deregulation dialogue
- Promoting European business and the EBC through presentations, seminars and the media
- Liaising with the European National Chambers of Commerce in Japan and coordinating the activities of the EBC Council and Executive Operating Board
