NTT may spend Yen5 trillion on fiber-optic lines for 30 million homes. Rewiring with fiber-optics is part of a business plans NTT is considering for the next three years. In March, NTT would increase spending on its fiber-optic network by 22% to Yen280 billion this fiscal year and planned to add 1.2 million fiber-optic subscribers, bringing the total user base to 2 million by March 2005.
