BREXIT and The New UK Government
October 1, 2019

On 1 October the European Business Council in Japan (EBC) had the pleasure of having Simon McGee of APCO Worldwide and Stephan Wernicke of the Association of German Chambers of Commerce and Industry give a presentation on BREXIT and the impact on European business.

The EBC office was well visited with a full table and even people sitting on back-benches. They were treated to a presentation on the Brexit, the consequences and the various possible future scenarios. With the United Kingdom about to leave the European Union, 31 October at 11:00 pm GMT or 1 November 00:00 Central European Time, the two presenters offered a comprehensive picture, both of the more historical and technical details, but also opinions and predictions on what the future might hold.

Furthermore, the presenters stressed that the UK and the EU will remain close partners in the future. However, BREXIT will have both short-term and long-term negative effects. There will be disruptions to the movement of goods, services, capital and people. Companies will have to start to fill in export and import declarations for trade between the EU and the UK.

The EBC would like to take the opportunity to thank Simon McGee and the APCO Worldwide, and Stephan Wernicke and the German Chamber, for helping us arrange this speaker event.
