Time: 14:00-16:00
Place: BCCJ office
Ark Hills Front Tower RoP 2-23-1 Akasaka Minato-ku

Details: Japan is on the cusp of delivering two 'mega years' in 2019 and 2020. At our roundtable event on January 22, BCCJ members in the Education industry are invited to engage in discourse on the subsequent opportunities arising for their sector - due not least to the forthcoming Rugby World Cup 2019, the G20, the UK-Japan Season of Culture, and the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics.

Context: A British Education

The UK has been the preferred choice for some of the most important minds in history. One in four world leaders has studied in the UK, and according to British Council research, 38% of Nobel Laureates who studied abroad did so in Britain. Graduates are proven to be some of the most desirable in the world, with confident analytical thinking, and excellent communication skills.

Education as an export

The UK Education sector is considered a highly attractive export and represents an annual growth rate of approximately 4% per year for the past decade. Investment in education-related exports totalled nearly £19bn in 2015, growing by 22% since 2010. It is forecast that by 2020, the value of education-related export market might be approximately £21.5 billion and £26.6 billion in 2025.

UK Education in Japan

Education can elevate a nation's profile, and boost the creation of meaningful long-term investments in infrastructure, transportation, and/or social policies. It can also benefit the economy as a whole. At the BCCJ we are proud to have as members fourteen education providers, many of whom have cultivated strong and influential networks that contribute greatly to the cultural and commecial bilateral relationship between the UK and Japan.
